Life is Not a Number

There are the jokes, and there are the comments about ageing. We’ve all heard them. Perhaps, we had told a few when we were younger. But then there is the reality, your reality. As you get older, there are going to be days when you feel your age and many more days when you still feel, at least in your mind, like a kid again. Just because you are getting up there in years doesn’t mean you are running out of things to do, things to try, and places to see. Life is not limited to your age, but rather by what you are going to do about it.

If you were to look up history and see what was invented or written, you would find that many of these creations came from those that were considered old or over the hill, when in fact they were a bit over fifty. And with medicine, healthy living, exercise and the use of your mind you can live beyond a hundred these days.

It starts with healthy living, and this doesn’t mean you have to give up everything you love just to live healthily. Instead, it means you will make some lifestyle changes, gradually that enhance your life. Don’t be afraid to try new things, after all; you lived this long so new things should be refreshing. A gym class or even 30 minutes in the gym a few days a week will help you feel younger and more vibrant.

If reading is not for you, then try puzzles or brain games, even a word game on your cell phone will enhance your mind and help you get those brain juices flowing. Or just be silly, for no apparent reason. For example, put on some bunny ears and walk around all day long in the stores or out and about just to see people’s reactions. Your age is just a number; only you are holding yourself back.
