Bum On A Grate

Homeless person laying on grate covered with blanket and surrounded by trash

I’m only a bum.

I sit on a grate.

Give me a buck,  I’ll give you a smile.

And promise to pray for you at least for a while.

Maybe I want to be here, maybe I don’t.

If you ignore me,  I’ll understand.

But please remember I’m still a man.
